  • I haven’t updated in a while, largely because of some computer problems (my hard drive crashed). So I lost quite a bit of alumni contact information. I’ve been able to rebuild some of it, but would appreciate any emails and addresses you may have. Todd Hayes helped me rebuild a new computer, even though he was never a computer science major, and I was for 2.5 inexplicable years in the hellacious Voorhees Computing Center, another walk back to Pawling Avenue at 5:00 am after finally getting an Assembler program to compile, but getting no output that resembled the English language.
  • Dave Kayton provided me with plenty of emails and addresses from his classmates, ca. 1986. Thanks!
  • Bob Novo contacted me with his contact information. He is married with two children and living in Matawan, NJ. Didn’t mention the name of the wife or the children, but did mention video game collection. Actually, I didn’t ask him about the wife or the children, I asked about his video game collection.
  • Mark Grucza sent the following update. Unlike Bob Novo, Mark’s wife and children are identified by name. Also, he pointed out that he was a Red Sox fan, which seems fun in May, but will seem tragic in September. Too bad about that whole Red Sox thing, because he seems like a nice guy: “John Carl Zawada and I are going to make the trek to Troy to attend our 20th (can it actually be that long ago?) reunion. We’ll stop by the house to visit with anyone who will be around then (June 6-9). John is with Raytheon now doing high-tech computer stuff and I am still with Smucker doing low tech food stuff and enjoying the heck out of it. I’m serving on the board of trustees of the Wadsworth Public Library and we are in the middle of a $4.6 Million building expansion/renovation so that is exciting. My wife Pam and I have a boy in 4th grade (Zack) and a girl in Kindergarten (Emily), and really enjoy living in Wadsworth. It’s a fairly small town (about 20,000 pop.) but only 45 minutes from downtown Cleveland. We’re trying hard to fit the mold of the Norman Rockwell life–My wife is President of the PTO for the kids’ school, I’m a Cub Scout leader, and we’re both involved in our Church.”
  • Engagements to announce (I don’t know the last name of any of the females, no offense intended): Jason Haarman and Tammy, Jon Lattin and Marisa, Jamie Thompson and Britney.
  • Mark Hulscher was married in Seattle in April to Rachel Virden. Pi Lams in attendance were me, Jamie Howland, Eric Park, and Jason Mele.
  • Alumni weekend 2002 report:The House seems particularly strong and the dinner was very well-attended by actives and alumni, I believe a record turnout of around 85 people altogether. We probably came up short on the dinner tab because I forgot about tax and tip. Thanks to Dave Borowicz (scribe) for helping me plan the weekend and Joseph Plunkett (rex) for bringing me a hamburger while I was playing volleyball.

    Thanks to alumni who sent in donation checks. I will acknowledge who you are as soon as somebody tells me who you are. The House got a few hundred dollars, though.

    Dave Rubin ‘86 flew in from Florida and even bought the house a washer and/or dryer and a lawnmower. He also was promoting a website his company is releasing soon which will facilitate job networking. When I get more details, I will post them here.

    Tony Dazzo is the new KTAA Vice President. He graduated in 2000 or so. The current KTAA is Don Murphy President, Tony Dazzo Vice President, Dave MacKenzie Treasuer, Darren Felzenberg (me) secretary. There is no Marshal. Members-at-large are Karl Oestreich, Jason Haarman, Tom Mattson, and Barry Regan.

    I’d also like to thank Tom Mattson for his excellent service as Vice President the last couple of years. He moved back to Chicago a few months ago, so that is why we figured we needed a new Vice President. In my Pentagon article, I may have implied that Tom was negligent in his duties, but this is not true, far from it. I was just trying to be funny. In fact, I thought he had resigned his post as VP due to his relocation, but he didn’t. So Tony’s election was a peaceful coup d’etat, kind of like in Venezuela.
