May 2003

  • Bill Welch ‘86 (BWelch@fvc.com) sent in his contact information and says hi to everybody from the ‘82 - ‘88 era.
  • Chuck Doucette is seeking a software engineering job in Massachusetts … and also a roommate. He is currently working for Soft Pro (http://www.softpro.com).
  • Paul and Colleen Zajac had their second child, Dylan Anthony, on April 25th. It is a good reason to miss alumni weekend.
  • Special thanks to Dave Pabst, Fred Co, John Scapaticci, and John Hockenberry for sending in donations.
  • Gene Nelson has been in the Seattle area with his family of four for about twenty years, and with NOAA for about thirteen years. He attends an annual Mariners game with a local Pi Lam chapter. The Yankees beat the Mariners in Seattle 16-5 just last week. That was great. Hideki Matsui hit a homerun. Ichiro Suzuki hit no homeruns.
  • Alumni weekend 2003 report:

Despite the weather, the attendance was very good and everybody had a good time. I personally thank “Wed Wocket,” the Freshman who gave me his forty-ounce Piels. Well, I stole it, but he was gracious about it.

I forgot to circulate a simple alumni update sheet. For 364 days a year, I think this is a good idea. Then, on alumni weekend, I always forget to do it. I can report that most of the usual folks were there, with special appearances by Brian Blum and John Scapaticci.

Next year, we will formalize the Sunday morning breakfast. It had been discontinued due to lack of interest, but now there seems to be interest in it once again.
