- Many Pi Lam alumni were in attendance at Jamie Howland’s wedding. Jason Mele gave an instantly famous Best Man speech which was greeted with thunderous silence by the majority of the crowd. Maybe they just had no sense of humor. Personally, I enjoyed the personal insults and the turducken joke.
- Jamie Thompson and his wife Britney have a newborn daughter, Kylie.
- Joe Plunkett recently Graduated from Officer Candidate School in US Coast Guard and am stationed on 210 foot Cutter in Port Angeles, Washington called the ACTIVE as an engineering officer.
- Matt Riegert is now an ECAC ice hockey official.

- Three alumni attended the chicken parm dinner. Which is more than zero, anyway.
- Gavin Olender is in Munich and enjoying himself. He can’t see the Yankee games on television, though. Useless damned country, if you ask me. If you’re not going to let your people watch Yankee games, you know what?: “Mr. Gorbachev, put that wall back up!”
- Joe Cuda and Lina have set their wedding date and place: August 25th, 2007, in Virginia.
- Josh Beckett’s ERA is 5.01. If he doesn’t make another start, I win.
- Jason Haarman’s second daughter, Rachel Antonia Haarman, was born on June 14, 2006. Jason recently received a promotion. His previous job was Homer Simpson, and his new job is Mr. Burns. Tammy has started a business making gift baskets and 20-month-old Paige is a jabberjaw who has her own room with a toddler bed and fights when Jason tries to put her to sleep. I believe I got that straight. Unless 20-month-old Paige is making gift baskets and Tammy is a jabberjaw who fights whenever Jason tries to put her to sleep.
- Eric “Spanky” Park and his wife, Kris, hosted their second poker tournament and many Pi Lams were in attendance. Only one Pi Lam made a profit. I think it was unfair, because I went all in on a pair of fives and somebody else had a pair of sixes.
- Jamie Howland recently hosted a Labor Day barbecue. George Ramos was unable to attend because he chose to drive from Montreal to Toronto so he could watch the “Lord of the Rings” musical. Don’t fear, undergrads. One day, you may graduate and be as cool as Pi Lam alumni.
- Chris Blain is “leaving the grid,” in his own words: “The time has come for me to leave the confines of and. At the end of September, I’ll be leaving the land locked life in Sausalito behind and I’ll be moving on to the boat.”
- All alumni are invited to the following rush event. The actives are correct when they claim that alumni have superior cooking abilities. I should treat them to my world famous mango chicken / banana flufee surprise: “On Wednesday, September 20th at 6pm there will be the first ever Pi Lam Alumni Rush Chicken Parm Dinner. What are looking for some alumni to cook since some of you have superior cooking abilities. We have had a few volounteers so far for that position. Otherwise we just want you to come and eat and chat with freshmen. Tell them why you love the house, how it helped you in life, and what makes it ‘not 4 years, but a lifetime.’ If you are interested in participating in the event, please let me know at least a week ahead of time so we can have enough food.”
- More Yale information from Vin Marbury: “Two addresses I have for Yale are: 41 Trumbull Street. 73 Grove Street.”
- Steven Hong now works for AOL in Washington, D.C. He has moved approximately twelve times in the twelve years since he graduated.
- Jamie Howland and Rebecca Furer are getting married in October. Her mom is an Emma Willard grad, but fortunately she was there before Pi Lam occupied 300 Pawling Ave.
- Ryan Klee is an active brother looking for some information: “Scouring the internet the closest thing I found was on a page about the history of societies at Dartmouth College, which listed a church that the Pi Lam chapter their once occupied. The link is of the follow: http://www.dartmo.com/halls/hallscontent6.html It was my understanding, reading Pi Lam history that the Yale chapter used to meet next to a church. We were really hoping to find that church, and wondering if you or any alumni you knew could help us out. Thanks for your help…”
- Ed Klein and his wife Cristene are new parents to twins: Cooper James and Samantha Alice.
- Vin Marbury from Va. Tech helps out with Ryan Klee’s history question: “Actually, when I was working on the 100th Anniversary Celebration at Yale in early 1995, I, along with two other alumni Brothers were given access to the Yale archives (not often given to “outsiders”) to peruse their yearbooks, etc. At that time, we were able to trace the Founding Fathers’ heritage and the early Pi Lam chapter houses within New Haven. The photos of Werner, Levy, and Fisher that now grace the cover of the New Member manuals are genuine ones that were photocopied from old Yale yearbooks. As for meeting places and houses, if I recall, one location is now a parking lot (so Frotteur is not too far off) but there were at least two other houses located near the campus. I believe that one was on Orange St and the other was on Trumbull St. One did appear to be of post-1920’s construction so the original house must have been replaced.”
- Mark Hulscher runs an engineering consulting firm in Seattle called Monster Concepts. While his website needs some work, it can’t wait for more stuff, man alive.
- Greg Recine is marrying Pam on June 10th.
- Eric Bluntzer is happily living in West Virginia. Blissfully living, I should say.
- http://www.saverpigreeks.com. This is a website that summarizes some of the events in the Greek RPI community.
