- Alumni weekend was quite a success, with about 30 alumni + dates and 40 actives + dates attending the dinner at Lillian’s in Saratoga Springs. Special thanks to the alumni who sent funds in to the KTAA. I would also be interested is seeing more alumni input from recent graduates. We would also like to see if we can make alumni weekend more appealing to families. So if you have any suggestions, please let me hear them.
- The following update from Kenneth St. John, ‘75: “I qualified for my Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Mississippi State University on January 19 and it will be awarded on May 12. This is 24 years after I got my M.S. and 26 years after my degree from RPI. I am an Assistant Professor (soon to be Associate Professor) at the University of Mississippi Medical center in the departments of Orthopaedic Surgery and Restorative Dentistry (since 1989). My wife,Susan, and I have two children adopted from Korea (Matthew, 15 andJessica, 12), two cats, two hamsters, three fish, and a large white rabbit. I teach Orthopaedic Residents and Dental Students and spend the rest of my time researching total hip replacement devices and the Biocompatibility of implant materials.”
- Dave and Laura MacKenzie have two young children, Sean and Kevin.
- John and Nancy Faccone have two young children, Ryan (born 4/24/98) and Jenna (born 6/29/99). John says The Soprano’s reminded him of his childhood, except for the guns and the money. I didn’t have the heart to tell him that The Soprano’s is kind of lame without the guns and the money.

- Steve Roberts and Brett St. Onge are doing well in Austin, Texas. The following update came courtesy of Steve and it may make you wonder how Brett was ever a rex: “After becomming a new home owner last year, Brett forgot that the neighborhood association gets pissed off if you don’t mow or water the yard (which is expensive becase is so damn hot in the summer here). So they threatened some kind of action and Brett went to work in the yard. The next day he came in with huge red welts from fire ant bites all up and down his arms and legs. He has vowed never to work in the yard again. It’s a bit of an unfortunate story, but knowing Brett as well as we do makes it a bit comical. We work at IBM in Austin on similar projects and are both doing well. No kids or wives yet. Hope to make it back to see you guys one of these years.”
- Todd Obermeyer ‘91 works for the largest French Fry company in the United States, Lamb-Weston Inc. A year ago he took a job as their Corporate Industrial Engineering Manager. He now lives in Richland, Washington with his wife, Kristie, and two children; Emily who is now 4 years old and Erik who is 9 months old. (Editor’s note: I did some research, and found out that Obie works for the largest producer of french fries; NOT the producer of the Largest French Fry. But being the Industrial Engineering Manager for the World’s Largest French Fry would be kinda cool.)
- David Bleich ‘64 sent a note looking for his classmates. I don’t have too much information about alumni from the ’60s, but I’ll spread the word in case anybody is checking out the website.
- Ian Marlow ‘96 reports the following: “I worked as a Nuclear Engineer in the same program that Jason Haarman worked in (Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, KAPL). Left in late ‘96 and became an Actuary. I’m now VP and Dir. of IS for 5 Insurance companies (subsidiaries of a larger publicly traded company).”
- Ian Marlow also provided an update for Hector “Luis” Eugui III ‘96: “He’s married and works as a traffic enginner for the port authority, his wife is a ChemE (from RPI)”

- Jeff Ehrlich is the father of another child, Benjamin.
- Eric “Spanky” Park got married in Arizona in October, 2000. I was lucky enough to be in attendance along with other Pi Lams Mike Miller, Steve Lane (the Best Man), Chris Garbe, and Mark Hulscher. During that time, the Yankees beat that A’s en route to their third straight World Series. As we gazed upon the Grand Canyon, most of us were in awe of the Glory of Man — the extensive, intricate network of roads that got us there, the buildings with indoor plumbing, automobiles. even the airplanes that got us there. Nothing like the Grand Canyon to put things in perspective — Man can truly do awesome things, especially when he can manipulate and subvert Nature for his own needs.
- Carl Redfield ‘68 is a senior VP at Cisco Systems, splitting his time between California and New England.
- Jon Rubinstein is the father of his first child, Lily.
- The following stirring update came from Eric Bluntzer, ‘92. Editorial comments and poor spelling are his: “Bluntzer canoed the Everglades in March. 100 miles of surf and swamp, he wrestled an alligator bare handed and escaped with a minor leg woung (’Yeah, but you should see the alligator.’) Let’s all give a hand for Brother Bluntzer, he is truley too cool.”
- Paul Zajac and his wife Colleen had their first child, Aidan, in August.
