  • Shin Ozeni is doing well and living in Tokyo, working for Hitachi. He moved to Tokyo a year ago. He used to work in a more rural area of Japan. Shin still holds the record for the longest trek to attend an alumni weekend.
  • The statistics for the successful 2003 fundraiser have been updated on the website.

September 2003

  • The following from Bob Wildes: “On Aug 7, my wife Wendy gave birth to our second child, Erin Patricia Wildes. Our older daughter Meaghan, about to turn 6, loves being a big sister.”
  • I received from Roger Orloff and one of the original NYKT founders, Dick Morse. The personal and historical information they provided is part of the History page.
  • Mark Tollin also sent in memoirs that provided information of the House in the late ’60s.
  • Josh Whiteley is going for his MBA at the Johnson School at Cornell. He promised to still root for RPI in hockey.
  • Jason Haarman was married to Tammy Glessing in Saratoga Springs, NY. Longtime friends in attendance were myself, Jason Mele, Florin Neamtu, Karl Oestreich, Todd Hayes, Ed Klein, Scott Buermann, Steve Chopelas, Samuel Adams, and Bud Light. Choppa still drinks wine coolers.

July 2003

  • The following message was sent to me by Roger Orloff and based on his idea, we are going to make an outreach effort in August in an attempt to utilize our alumni to increase knowledge of our history. “The June Rensselaer alumni magazine reported the death last December of Charles Stattel, ‘52. If I recall my pledge manual, Chuck was one of the founders of Kappa Tau fraternity in 1949. In 1954, it affiliated with Pi Lambda Phi and became New York Kappa Tau Chapter. Reading the announcement got me thinking about the chapter’s history. The History page on the web site is limited to a 2 paragraph clip from the national web site and says nothing about the chapter’s past. I don’t recall any celebration in 1999 of the 50th anniversary of the founding of Kappa Tau. The 50th anniversary of the affiliation with Pi Lambda Phi is coming up next year. There is still time to plan to commemorate it.”
  • Jeff Giunta sent the following update: “I’m now an intellectual property attorney in my original home town of Boca Raton, FL. As far as work, my firm’s web site is www.focusonip.com with my bio (and picture) at http://www.focusonip.com/member.html#jgiunta After graduation from the ‘tute, I worked as an EE for 12 years for 7 different employers in the Washington DC area, Northern CA, and St. Pete and Boca in FL. After 12 years in cubicles, I decided I wanted an office with an door so I went to U. Miami Law School (after growing up in FL and then going to Troy, I wasn’t leaving the state again!) and graduated in Dec. 98 (that was a semester EARLY, not late…). I’ve been in a few lawyer jobs since then. I now live in Boca - at the same address for 3 years, which is a record for me since leaving Troy. I have a house about 1/4 mile from the beach with a pool and a few extra rooms - Road Trip????”
  • Jeff seems to move around a lot, and so does Howard Marsh ‘63. He will be moving back to the US. He sent me updated information for a bunch of alumni and requested a lot of contact information, too: “You can use my Navy email address as a reasonably stable one. I’ll be moving back to the US (Washington DC area) this Summer, but the current Navy London email should still work for the next couple of years.”
  • Next month, we expect to send out a mass mailing regarding the 2003 fundraiser and the Living History project.

June 2003

  • Brian Blum and Chuck Doucette are moving and sent in their new addresses. As for the May update, Chuck also apparently found a new job.
